Just as songbird choruses become more frequent and springtime nears, we are still reflecting on how much the world has shifted in the past year. And though the initial swells of anxiety, unrest, and uncertainty have calmed as months have passed, our thoughts of loved ones and hope for our communities remain crisp just as another renewal arrives.
Despite the challenges we all endured in 2020, our resilient Brent’s Place families braved
through those obstacles during their medical journeys. They adopted additional safety protocols to keep all families and staff members safe. And they missed the welcoming smiles and encouraging words from our volunteers. Days looked different at Brent’s Place, but the care and compassion we provided to the 251 families who counted on us last year never wavered.
The circle of care that rallied around Brent’s Place in 2020 made possible an extraordinary year of impact. Though we had to cancel events, go virtual to stay connected with you, and suspend activities for our 800
dedicated volunteers, we finished the year stronger than ever. You gave generously and extended your hearts, allowing us to adapt to a new reality and expand our capacity. By doing so, you helped 251 families from 17 states move through the year from the comfort of a Safe-Clean home, near the life-saving treatment they needed. You helped them celebrate 263 birthdays, and provided them 10,303 meals. Most importantly, you helped them know they were not alone.
Though we are still living through a pandemic, we can now be more proactive and responsive for the 300+ families we’ll serve in 2021. And just as the songbirds remind us, we can be comforted knowing brighter days are ahead.
With Gratitude,
The Brent’s Place Staff, Board & Families
