Brent's Place in their own words

"The best part of staying at Brent's Place is the sense of community - family night meals, camaraderie with the other families, and the interaction with the staff.  Brent's Place is a safe place to be, a shelter in a storm, and where kids can forget that they are sick."

"The best part of staying at Brent's Place is the Safe-Clean environment, so there is not risk of infection.  It's one less thing to worry about.  Everyone on the staff lends support and a shoulder to cry on, and help in ways you may not know you need help. Since the staff has "been there, done that", they help in many ways through their experiences with the other families and in their own lives."

The Brent's Place staff is supportive, helpful, always taking care of the "little things" we request, always available, quck to answer, easy to find and receptive. We'd like to personally thank the staff and Board of Directors for providing what is here.

"Brent's Place has provided a home away from the hospital where Lizzie can have her own bed in her own space which gives her a more normal life." About the Staff - "It's not a job to them, but more of a calling. It is felt in their actions and attitudes - it comes from the heart. Gratitude, Gratitude. How do you say Thank You!!!"

"This place was a true gift to us, not only is it a wonderful place to stay but it gave Bob a place where he could rest, relax and heal with the peace of mind of knowing it was not draining the bank account.  He knew he was in a clean place and that helped. Also having people around that understood what you're going through was also very nice.  It was like a "healing bubble". Thanks x 10,000"

"We will never forget the kindness, dedication and friendships our family and all the families of children with cancer and other life threatening situations.  Want to thank Brent's Place, the Eley family and everyone involved with such a wonderful organization.  The world is a better place because of your tireless efforts. Made us feel like family and we will never forget your kindness"

"Staff at Brent's Place - Thank  you for being part of our journey with Wyatt. Although too short, we were blessed with many special memories and adventures. His smile and kind spirt will live forever, but be missed.  Wyatt continues to do amazing things in peoples' lives. Thank you."

"Brent's Place is truly a gift to a transplant patient. The staff is friendy and responsive - a true joy to work with. It is the sunniest, cheeriest apartment to be in - a mood elevator every time you walk in.  The amenities - dinner, massages and movie nights are great. I felt safe and pampered and loved here.  My experience here will be a memory of a great gift for the rest of my life."

"We cannot say thank you enough! During our stay, we had moments of uncertainty but we always came "home" to smiles, support and lots of activities to keep our minds off treatment.  It means so much to us - the acccomodations you made to allow our family of 5 to stay here.  The place was always clean and the staff was always friendly and willing to give a hand. Than you for making this feel like home."

"Brent’s Place has meant that we know we have a safe place, we are welcome and can be together as a family.  We know that it is all okay.  Brent’s Place is amazing. We have our own apartment, where we can be on our own, but also a great facility where there are activities and things to keep us occupied if we want to hang out with other people."

“Julia likes staying at Brent’s Place because it is a safe and clean place for her to recover from her cord blood transplant.  Hotels are no fun, but Brent’s Place is.  She is able to participate in house activities, play on the playground out back, have her own room, and feel good that her mother can relax and not worry so much.  She hopes everyone associated with Brent’s Place knows how much they do for her family, and she and her mother will be eternally grateful for helping them through this unique and emotional experience.”

“To me Brent’s Place was my little home away from home while I was going through transplant and recovery.  It was a place where everyone else around me was sick too, and was going through the same thing I was.  It gave me a sense of comfort.”

“Our permanent home is in Albuquerque, NM, and housing up here in Denver was a concern for us – until we learned of Brent’s Place!  It is truly wonderful that such a place exists!  The staff is so helpful and caring, and the facilities are safe, clean and absolutely top-notch beautiful.  Facing a life-threatening illness can be frightening and exhausting, and we are so thankful that the Denver community has poured out their generous hearts to provide such a welcoming home away from home for many families like ours.

“When we found out our daughter would need a Bone Marrow Transplant our first question was HOW?? How are we going to make this work? We live more than 6 hours from Denver Children's Hospital! How can we afford to live in Denver while we still have a home in Wyoming?  How can we keep our family together?  Having four girls, ranging in ages from 3-11, this was a huge concern of ours?  Brent's Place was the answer to our prayers and an answer to the HOW?  Once we toured Brent's and met the caring staff there, we instantly knew that it could work and that we COULD DO IT! “
