What is Cakes for Cancer?

Cakes for Cancer is a program designed by Zane Beadles and Brent's Place to raise money and awareness for the families of Brent's Place.  For EVERY Pancake block that Zane or any member of the Denver Broncos Offensive Line has during the regular season and playoffs, Zane Beadles will commit $250 to Brent's Place.  Zand and the Offensive Line also serve up pancakes at the Cakes for Cancer Breakfast.

What is a Pancake Block?

A Pancake block has only been around for a few years.  Pancakes are synonymous with offensive linemen and not because they block people from eating their pancakes or because of the amount they can stuff in their mouth during breakfast. "Pancake block" is a term that describes when an offensive lineman knocks a defender flat on his back and falls on top of him.  It is an official form of blocking, and now not only will the Broncos opposition be punished by Zane and his teammates, but the kids of Brent's Place will benefit because of it!

Who will keep track of the Pancake blocks?

The Denver Broncos' staff will keep track of how many Pancake blocks Zane and his teammates have each game throughout the season. 

Where will the money go?

100% of all the money raised will go directly to help Brent's Place make a difference in the lives of children with cancer and their families...one day at a time. Specifically, the money raised will be used to provide specialized housing for pediatric cancer patients and support programs for children undergoing life-saving treatments and their families who have made Brent's Place their home away from home.

About Zane Beadles and Cakes for Cancer

Zane Beadles is a graduate of the University of Utah, where he was a four year starteer on the offensive line.  In 2010, the Denver Broncos selected Zane in teh 2nd Round of the NFL Draft.  As a rookie, Zane started 14 games and was named to the NFL All Rookie Team.  Zane has been embraced by the Denver community and could not imagine living or playing in another city.  While playing at the University of Utah, Zane's heart was touched by a 7 year old boy named Ryker, who had been striken with Glioblastoma Multiforme cancer.  The team adopted Ryker as a member of the Utah Utes family and he was present on the field and in the locker room during the season.  February 24, 2007, Ryker lost his battle with cancer.

Zane's family has also battled cancer; his family lost two grandparents to cancer but has had the great fortune of two other grandparents whom have beaten cancer!  These family experiences with cancer and the bond that was created between Ryker and Zane inspired Zane to create Cakes for Cancer.  Join Zane as he helps the kids at Brent's Place beat cancer.  Brent's Place is the only Children's Hospital Colorado approved "Safe-Clean" housing facility in the Rocky Mountain region, filling the critical need for immune compromised pediatric patients and their families.
