Brent's Place will take part in Step Up For Cancer on Sunday, August 8th. We'll be at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, 6000 Victoria Way in Commerce City, from 7-11 a.m. We hope you'll join our team: "Can't Stop Stairing" or make a donation to benefit our home of hope and healing for our kids with cancer and their families!

Step Up For Cancer is an awareness, fundraising and educational stair-climbing event focused on uniting many different generations in support of the fight against cancer. The event is also designed to increase awareness of community cancer resources and to foster greater collaboration among non-profit cancer organizations.

This year, Brent’s Place will be hosting our 22nd Annual Kids Cure for Cancer. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 22 years!

We’d love to see you at Denver’s Washington Park on July 25 to join in on the fun. Last year we had 3,000 participants who raised more than $160,000 for our kids with cancer; this year, we’re hoping for even more.

The entire Brent’s Place staff will be there, along with several former Brent’s Place families and thousands of other Coloradoans who support us and the families we serve.

The 5k race begins at 8am, and for those of you who aren’t runners, walking is a great way to be part of the day, too! We will also have a 1K Fun Run and a community fair (including pancake breakfast, give-a-ways and Kids’ Corner, complete with train rides, arts and crafts and a jumping castle). Make sure not to miss The Woodies, either:  they’ll be providing our live entertainment. If you can't join us at Washington Park, you can still sign up to be a Home Runner wherever you are!

Fabian Jimenez is our new House Operations Manager!  Make sure to say hello the next time you’re here- he’s a fantastic new addition and will be taking care of all things facility and maintenance related.

A little bit about Fabian: before joining us at Brent’s Place, he worked his way up to a management position during his 18 year tenure at Karl’s Farm Dairy and Wholesome Milk Products. He’s bilingual in English and Spanish, the father of an 18-year old cancer survivor and knows how to fix (or can learn quickly) just about anything: a very, very handy skill to have around!

Fabian is the fourth addition to the Brent’s Place team this year. We can definitely say that 2010 has been a year of big changes! Even with all of the growth and changes, each and every staff member remains committed to preserving and building all of the good work that has been done at Brent’s Place in the past.
